Three letters of reference, two of which must be from former professors and address academic qualifications (If you graduated
with your bachelor’s degree more than 5 years ago, please provide three professional letters addressing your abilities in the following skills: communication, interpersonal, leadership, resourcefulness, time management, and self-directedness) Once you have completed and submitted your online-application, your references will be contacted directly by us via email with
directions for submitting their letters of recommendation on your behalf )
If you have taken the GRE, upload a copy of official: Graduate Record Exam (GRE) Scores *not required
Current resume or vita documenting your educational attainments and highlighting any kinesiology related work and/or
research experience
Written statement addressing the following: (1) the reason for pursuing a kinesiology graduate degree, (2) a description of
relevant research or professional experiences, (3) a commitment to scholarship and/or professional development, (4) a specific research or area of interest and whether you are applying for a thesis or non-thesis degree, if applying for the thesis track – specify the faculty member you have already been in contact with who has agreed to serve as your thesis advisor, and, if applying for a teaching assistantship, (5) why you would be an effective teacher at the college level, what relevant teaching
related experiences you have
OFFICIAL transcripts from any colleges/universities
“Official” transcripts are those sent directly by the college/university the student attended to the WSU Graduate School in Pullman Transcripts that are not sent directly from the Registrar of the school attended to the WSU Graduate School are NOT considered official Transcripts issued directly to students in sealed envelope are NOT considered official
Transcripts must …
• be received from any institution where any degrees have been granted or are expected,
• show the last 60-graded semester (90 quarter) credits of course work,
• show graded graduate level work (including doctoral) taken after the bachelor’s degree
Transcripts are NOT required for course work taken at WSU.

Additional information that may support the review of your application: The Kinesiology program values prerequisite
knowledge in the following areas: neuroscience, bioengineering, biology, health and wellness, psychology, sociology Evidence
of prerequisite knowledge may consist of prior coursework or work experience judged adequate by the Kinesiology faculty If you possess knowledge in one or more of these areas that may not be evident in your transcripts or resume, please provide a brief typewritten explanatory statement Also include any relevant practical and/or research experience
The Graduate School at Washington State University requires applicants to have achieved a minimum undergraduate cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 If yours is below a 3.00, please provide a brief typewritten statement explaining the circumstances or a statement indicating why you believe you will be able to maintain a graduate-level GPA above a 3.00 if you are granted an exception to this requirement
