UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH INTERNSHIPS
Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts
For 2017, interns will use electrospinning to create nano-scopic fibers of various polymers and study the effect of electrospinning parameters (e.g., voltage, concentration) on fiber properties The fibers are biocompatible and biodegradable, and could be useful in water separations and filtration

Internship Details:
When: May 23 – June 30, 2017 (coinciding with First Summer Session at Tufts University)
Where: Tufts University, 574 Boston Ave - Room 421, Medford, MA 02155
What is provided: The four selected interns will receive a stipend of $2700 for the six weeks, and 0.5 course
credit from Tufts University In addition, tuition for the 0.5 credit course, registration fee, dormitory housing costs, and a small food allowance will be provided to the four interns
Interns must provide for their own travel to and from Tufts University in Medford, MA.
Moving-in day for dormitory housing is Monday, May 22, 2017.
Eligibility: Deaf or hard of hearing students who are matriculating at college or university, in a baccalaureate
program at the time of the internship Students should have an interest in science or engineering in any field
We especially welcome interns with mathematics or computer science training, or interest in biology, chemistry, materials science, physics, or any branch of engineering
Applications: Prospective interns should send by e-mail: a resume, unofficial transcript, statement of purpose,
and one letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor/teacher to Prof Peggy Cebe, peggy.cebe@tufts.edu Deadline for receipt of applications is February 15, 2017 Selected interns will be notified by March 15, 2017
