Florida AmeriCorps and Connect2Complete

Service Retreat AmeriCorps and Connect2Complete members attend workshops that highlight campus-community

partnerships, student civic engagement, college access mentoring and FL|CC programming Attendees also participate in local service projects

Student Scholars' Institute - 3-day event

- limited number of students are competitively selected to participate in a unique civic learning experience filled with interactive dialogue between students and public officials

- Held in the capital, Tallahassee, FL, and includes sessions with officials from legislative, executive and judicial branches of state and local

governments One highlight includes a "mock trial"

Illinois Student Veterans Conference

(Proposed) - For Student Veteran Coordinators from the administration of each of our member campuses

and the heads of the student Veteran student organizations (if they exist) on those campuses

- Round tables will explore transitional issues experienced by student Veterans in orienting to the campus environment from military service, and any issues experienced by the administrations

in identifying and providing services needed by their student Veteran population

- Workshops in which ILCC will present guidelines and "best practices" to the administrators in hopes

of solving their identified issues or bettering their existing processes and procedures

Indiana Statewide Civic Leadership

Conference (Fall) Students will hear from state leaders in education and government; engage in meaningful conversations that

focus on the issues affecting higher education in Indiana; and have the opportunity to come together – around a shared commitment to action – creating a strengthened network of informed, civic leaders in Indiana higher education Moreover, participants will bolster their civic competence – preparing them to become lifelong civic leaders

Networking Meetings (Fall) and Service Engagement Summit (Spring)

During our fall regional networking meetings and spring conference, ICC offers specific programming geared toward student participants The purpose is to involve student participants in networking and connections with students from across the state; enhance their leadership development skills; and engage them in meaningful reflection Past sessions include: Maximizing Your Leadership through Service, Work on Purpose with Echoing Green, Working with Your State Legislators and Local Government Leaders, and Engaging Your Campus Administrators

Iowa IUGO Student Leadership

Conference IUGO: (pronounced "you-go") from the Latin meaning "to connect, or bind together" brings together student

leaders from across the state to learn and grow Students and organizations can earn valuable leadership and public speaking experience by presenting on a topic they are particularly passionate about Presenters go for FREE!

IUGO Relevant Topics:

Kansas Hunger Dialogue The goal is to develop a statewide consensus among

institutions of higher learning to impact hunger with the state of Kansas and ultimately, the world

Attendees gain the tools, networks, and inspiration to ensure that action on hunger continues to be a hallmark of Kansas higher education

Michigan Active Leaders Student Conference Designed to prepare college students to be change

agents for the issues in which they are passionate, this day-long collaborative environment involves college students from across Michigan and leaders in the fields

of service, advocacy, and philanthropy It allows student leaders the opportunity to seek out successful models in leading community service initiatives, gain valuable skills in mobilizing efforts to maximize impact and network with other student leaders and nonprofit professionals

Student Conference

- This annual conference brings students together, from across the region, to network, dialogue and develop skills towards becoming more effective civic engagement participants and leaders

- Topics include volunteerism, leadership, service-learning, advocacy and activism

- The Community Impact Student Award is presented

- A different member campus hosts the conference each year

Oregon Student Leadership Conference - weekend retreat for service-minded student

leaders, visionaries, and activists

- Workshops offer a unique view on leadership, intercultural communication, technology and social media, visioning, and more

Island Rhode Island Statewide Student Service Summit (RISSS) - opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas and learning new skills

- The goal is for students to inspire and learn from each other and community members and to realize the power of working together towards positive goals for community achievement and change

Carolina Student Leadership & Diversity Conference

SCCC is the co-sponsor

- Held each February at the University of South Carolina

- one day regional conference for faculty, staff, and students to interact with individuals from other schools in the region

- SLDC trains and educates student leaders in essential leadership skills, developing their leadership identity, working and leading in a diverse society, and initiatives and methods to create sustainable positive change

Utah Utah Engaged Citizenship Retreat - interactive event for students, AmeriCorps

members, and VISTA members

- Attendees participate in a series of activities and discussions designed to deepen their

understanding of civic responsibility and how they can make an impact in their communities

- Experienced facilitators provide participants with a safe environment to respectfully discuss

potentially controversial issues and teach them effective advocacy strategies

- Facilitators guide participants through a project-planning process that helps them analyze the issues underlying their humanitarian activities so that these service activities are more meaningful

Excellence in Service Award - Given to 3 student service scholars for outstanding service

Islands Community Student Impact Award - recognizes one student per member institution who exhibitsoutstanding leadership and innovative approaches in their

Community Commitment Award

- recognizes students at member campuses who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community engagement

Iowa ICC Anniversary Student

Engagement Award - recognizes leadership in engaging students as active citizens

Maine Heart and Soul Student Award - recognizes six undergraduate students who have been

actively involved in turning their campuses and communities into places of democracy

- recipients have raised their voices on issues of local and global importance through civic engagement efforts

Michigan Heart and Soul Award - recognizes undergraduate and graduate students for their

time, effort and personal commitment to their community through service

Commitment to Service Award - recognizes two students per member campus for either the breadth or the depth of community involvement or service

experience(s) and the demonstration of meaningful reflection

Outstanding Community Impact Award - honors up to five undergraduate and one graduate student who have made service an integral part of their college

experience by their significant contribution to community resources

- recipient’s efforts build partnerships between their campuses and communities, and demonstrate personal reflection and a commitment to lifelong engagement

Minnesota Presidents’ Student

Leadership Award - for an individual student or a student organization that models a deep commitment to civic responsibility and

leadership, evidenced by initiative, innovative and collaborative approaches to addressing public issues, effective community building, and integration of civic engagement into the college experience

Missouri The Semester of Service

Award When students provide service (through volunteering, service-learning, or a combination of service opportunities) to

neighborhood organizations or government agencies over the course of a single semester, they track their hours with the Semester of Service Passport At the end of the semester, students who have provided 45 hours or more of service will be eligible to receive the following:

•A Certificate of Service = Community Contributor (45 hrs), Community Changer (70 hrs), Community Catalyst(100 hrs) •Missouri Campus Compact website recognition

Service Award - granted annually to one undergraduate per member institution to recognize undergraduate students for their

outstanding leadership and contributions to community service or service-learning on their campus and within their community Students nominated will compete with other nominees from across the state for a $500 mini grant, to be given to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s choice
