Welcome to the latest issue of Papercraft

Essentials This issue, we are bringing you the

fi rst-ever 114-element The Book Club cardmaking

kit and luxury storage wallet As a self-confessed

bookworm, it has been wonderful to work with this kit,

as it is ideal for making gorgeous cards for the book lover

in your life, and we have plenty of ideas that cover both

masculine and feminine projects There are also stunning

elements that help create brilliant 3D projects, and not just cards, so you are not

restricted with what you can make using this kit! If you are also an avid reader, then

there are easy-to-make bookmarks to mark your page

The Design Team has created 18 wonderful projects for you to try your hand at,

starting with some shaped cards from Sandra Rayner Then, Amy Wilks shows us how

to make fun, masculine cards using the kit! Mel Jess shows us that the kit is perfect

for those 3D projects, and the templates she has used are available to download from

CraftWorld now Sam Butler has made all-occasion cards that show off the kit and are

ideal for those feminine makes!

We also have some ideas to stretch your stash, such as a skill-building masterclass

from Teresa Morgan on creating your own embossing glazes using fun stencils

Vanessa Hodgson shares her ways of making your sentiment stamps go further, plus

we have new products from CraftStash and Craft Consortium

This issue is jam-packed with ideas and inspiration, and I know you’ll be itching to get

started with your crafting, so I shall leave you to it Don’t forget to share your makes

your loved ones Use code PE21420.

I love how Sandra has made a book-shaped card!

This clever design from Amy looks like a library bookshelf

It is hard to choose a favourite of Emma’s 3D projects

Such a lovely anniversary card

from Sam

This month,

I have spent a lot of time at the theatre Last year, a theatre group called Mischief Theatre (the company behind shows

such as The Play That

Goes Wrong) did online shows, and we got to chat to the cast on

Zoom One took an interest in my job, so when I got to meet him this month, I made a card to let him and the cast know how much they helped a lot of us through the lockdowns!

MEET THE MAKER

Having gone back to basics with Lisa, we sat down her and discussed her brand, her life and what’s to come for 2023

Lisa Horton

LISA HORTON

Meet the maker

When did you get into

cardmaking? Do you

remember your fi rst

project you created

that sparked this?

I started with a kit from Create

and Craft when I was pregnant

and suff ering from extreme

morning sickness It gave me

focus and something fun to

do Like all crafters know, after

fi rst kit, it is a slippery slope – I

soon had a mountain of crafting

goodies that shared the nursery!

What advice do

you have for

beginner crafters?

Enjoy what you create, and don’t

be too hard on yourself We are

our own worst critics

How do you come up

with the collections

for your brand?

I typically start with a doodle on

my iPad, which makes me think

of something else that would

work with the doodle Then the

laptop comes out, and I start

drawing the die, which develops

into a collection

What inspires you as

a crafter?

Other crafters are a massive

inspiration to me I look at

everybody’s fabulous projects

using my products and it makes

me want to create more and

better each time

What’s your proudest

achievement with Lisa

Horton Crafts?

results are just incredible We are known globally for these now, which is amazing My other proudest achievement is my Ulti-Mate Multi Tool I am thrilled

to have created this tool, which makes life so much easier when using your stencils and stamps and is brilliant for crafters with dexterity issues

What would you consider as Lisa Horton Craft’s unique qualities?

Our honest, functional and innovative products – I have the best team supporting me, and we are able to inspire and give crafters confi dence to expand their creativity and try new things We pride ourselves

in speaking to our customers, helping where we can and providing a high level of customer service

What’s your favourite product in the Lisa Horton Crafts range?

It has to be the Ulti-Mate Tool, which was released to complement our outstanding 3D embossing folders, layering stencils and coordinating dies

Multi-What can we expect

the brand fresh and interesting

We already have much in the pipeline and will be expanding our designs and adding more to the product range under the brand We want to become a one-stop shop for all you need to create beautiful projects The next 12 months is incredibly exciting for us

What’s the best advice (craft-related or

otherwise) you’ve ever received, and from whom?

My mum said when I was small

to always be kind and patient I believe that in this world, it costs nothing You never know what others are going through, and her advice to “Think before you speak,”

is something I always try to do.

What are your top three papercrafting techniques?

This is an easy one! I love embossing with folders – they give

a beautiful instant wow I enjoy stencilling and think this is an underrated product Last but not least, die-cutting It always fi nishes your cards beautifully and is great for a professional fi nish

How have the last two years affected your brand?

I won’t lie, the last couple of years have been an incredible whirlwind,

Quick-fi re questions

Favourite-ever book…

The Girl With All The Gifts

Favourite non-craft hobby… I love my garden, I

could spend days pottering

Favourite musician or band… Imagine Dragons!

Favourite holiday… I loved

India, closely followed by South Africa!

Guilty pleasure (non-craft)… Dare I say

it – a box of Maltesers, a cup of coff ee and a binge session of Below Deck

MEET THE MAKER

pandemic and the sale of Create and Craft, but it makes us work harder and fi ght for our business Danny and I are so grateful for the support of our customers and viewers on TV too

What craft products can you not leave the house without?

My Ulti-Mate Multi Tool, my wonder brushes and my pink, yellow and blue inkpads!

I won’t lie, the last couple of years What’s your favourite
