Trang 5Add a little glue to the bottom of the petal to help hold the shape you want
Trang 6Keep adding petals to create a flower that is as big and open or small and budded asyou like
To create the outer petals,
Pinch a little fold at the bottom of the paper to create a curved petal Add as many
as you want
Trang 7Then insert it into the center bottom of the flower
To add creative touches to the flower, you can use floral tape and colored
scrapbook paper to add leaves and make it into bunches
You can apply paint to the stem to make it look realist
Trang 9of card stock
Trang 10When the edges of the petal are dry, scrunch up the bottom and glue it to the outeredge of the card stock circle Do the same with the second petal but glue it to theopposite side
Repeat the same process with two more petals
To do the second layer of petals, glue it a little closer to the center and make surethey cover the first
Repeat the same process with the last wo petals
Then glue the glittered button to the center
And you are done!
Trang 12Release the coils and then glue it together Add glue to the center and press ittogether
Trang 13MAKING POPPIES
Start by drawing some figure 8 on the back of a double sided patterned paper Drawabout five of them and make three of them about one inch longer than the
remaining two
Cut them out, leaving enough space at the center to punch holes without tearingthrough
Place the three larger ones on top of each other and then place the two little one onthem make sure they are all off set
Punch two holes through the center of the stack
Thread a cloth covered florist wire up through the bottom of the flowers, adding abutton at the top and then going back down through the opposite hole in the buttonand out the bottom of the flower Twist the florist wire tightly starting as close aspossible to the bottom of the flower
Then arrange in a vase with a bow around the neck .
Trang 14MAKING A TREAT BASKET
Decide what you want the basket theme should be Then purchase the basket andall the items you want to put in the basket Remember that treats basket can containanything it can be a mixed theme
Cut about two yards of cellophane it can be either plain or special occasion printedLay it on the table surface, right side down and place the full gift basket in themiddle of it
Go ahead to arrange all items inside the basket You can place a cloth napkin orpaper doily in the bottom Ensure that breakable items are secured or wrapped incloth or tissue to prevent breakage Position tall items in the center, with medium-sized items on the outside and small ones in between You can add a wrapped
candy sprinkled throughout the items, it adds a nice sweet touch
Gather up the cellophane, pulling up the short sides first, then longer ends, andsecure with a long twist tie You can get someone to help you with this
made bow No need to remove the twist tie, unless it shows and finally attach thegift tag with string or tape it to the front cellophane
Add the ribbon make a nice bow with long curved tails Or you can attach a ready-If one of the short sides of cellophane is gaping, you may be able to adjust it bypulling gently on the top section, or secure with a small piece of clear tape .
Trang 16HOW TO MAKE BOTTLE WRAPS
To make bottle wraps, you will need a clear tape about 2inches wide, a decorative paper orcustom labels (enough to go around the bottle), scissor and of course bottles
Start by unrolling a long strip of tape on your work surface makes sure it isslightly longer than your paper
Then press the tape smoothly onto the paper The paper and the tape are nowone
Pick up the label and line it up as straight as you can along the side of thebottle and press the end of the tape to the bottle
Trang 17
You ends should meet up nicely if you were able to the keep the label levelall the way round
And then you have your own custom made bottle wrap
Trang 18Beginning from the middle where you did not cut the tassels, roll the tissue paper
up semi-tightly Be careful not to get the tassels too tangled
Trang 19Then twist that middle section onto itself to make a nice eyelet so you can be able
to string it with your burlap, twine, or string Add a dab of hot glue to keep theeyelet in place
You can make as many tassels as you want and once you have enough you canmake a garland with them to hang or use for parties

Trang 21HOW TO MAKE A SCRAPBOOK
Scrapbooking can be defined as preserving memories by arranging photos, page title, journaling and embellishments in an attractive layout, which is then put into a scrapbookalbum for the family and loved ones’ enjoyment
Trang 22BASIC STEPS TO MAKING A SCRAPBOOK
1) Brainstorm on a Theme
Think about what you want your scrapbook to be about Having a specific theme will helpyou to have a good idea of the kind of pages you will like to create Also, when
purchasing supplies for your scrapbook, you can purchase items that are related to yourtheme If you have no precise theme in mind, simply start off with a general album whereeverything you have scrapbooked will go in here
Trang 232) List of Stories to Tell
For a detailed theme, you may make a list of the little stories you want to tell or thememories you want to save Have a big picture of the pages you want to create for yourscrapbook like for example, if you want to scrapbook about your baby’s first year Youcould break down the scrapbook into 12 months If you do not have a specific theme youare working on, you do not have to think about the theme of the whole album you onlyfocus on the next page idea You want to work on
Trang 243) Photo Selections
Select photos that relate to the theme you choose If you have no theme in mind, you canchoose photos that help you tell the story you want the scrapbook to be about
Trang 254) Placement of Page Elements
Make sure you have an idea of where your photo, theme, title, journaling, and
embellishment will go that is why it is advisable for you to plan out what you want on apage first so as to avoid cropping photos to the wrong size or having very little space forjournaling For a non-theme scrapbook where you create each page whenever inspirationcomes to you, play around with the placement of elements and try to achieve an eye-pleasing arrangement on your background paper
Trang 265) Crop, Mat & Adhere Your Photos
If you need to crop a photo, you can make fade pencil markings on the back and then cropthe photo to the size you want using a scissors or paper trimmer Matting your photo isoptional but it will make your photo stand out more If you already know where yourphoto will go in your book, use an acid free glue to glue it to your scrapbook
Trang 276) Page Title
A page title highlights or supports the page theme or topic A page title can be handwritten
or typed be free to add swirls or creative extras to make your page title look more fun anddecorative
Trang 287) Journaling
Journaling is important; it allows you to tell your story You can add names, dates, caption, quotes etc It is advisable to take time to think about the word you want to use Your storycan be typed or hand written The photos support your story
Trang 298) Embellishments
Embellishments can make your pages look more interesting and decorative If you want toadd dimension, glitz or texture to your page, try adding on an embellishment or two Youcan glue, sew or tie your embellishments with ribbons to your layout; it is up to yourimagination Embellishments are optional
Trang 309) Protecting and Housing Your Layouts
After you have completed your page, it is ready to go into the scrapbook album you havechosen so your page is protected from getting torn, dusty or damaged
Trang 31
of a craft knife with interchangeable blades these are widely available, so you canpick up a few at a time
3 Use scissors to cut curves: It is much better to use scissor when cutting curves itproduces a nice curvy bit and it works wonders With scissors, you can get a goodclean result
4 Clear plastic rulers are great for corners: If you are cutting at a 90-degree angle, then a clear ruler is fantastic for making a clean cut
5 Score the paper for crisp folds: Do not be tempted to score your folds with thecutting edge of the knife you run the risk of going right through to the other side.Instead, use something blunter the back of your knife, an unfolded paper clip.Scoring should be just a very light guide to help the paper fold neatly; deep scoringcan weaken the model and make it harder to assemble
6 Always use good quality paper: Spend that extra cash and use some heavier
Trang 32paper or light card stock Invest in good quality papers If you want your models tolook good, last or go easily together then do not use cheap papers.
Trang 33CRAFT
There are various tools used for paper craft but we are just going to talk about the essentialones And they are:
2.A metal ruler: Plastic rulers are great for measuring and drawing, but it is goodwhen used to cut alongside a scalpel A metal ruler ensures you can cut a nice
straight line
3.A pencil : A pencil can come in handy when you want to draw your design firstbefore cutting it Some people cut the design without drawing it first
4.A scalpel: There are many different scalpels on the market If you are going to bedoing detailed cuts, then you want something that feels comfortable in your handfor long periods of time A rounded handle with a nice soft grip can be good
Trang 34The ideal blade is strong, with a fine point, and has just the right amount of
flexibility for negotiating curves
6.Paper : is used to get your design onto the back of the paper you are going to cutout If you do not have tracing paper at hand, baking parchment can be used but it
is not easy to work with You will need plenty of rough paper for creating yourdesigns, and then of course some special paper for your final cut The type of paperyou use for your final cut depends on the result you require To create a flat piece to
be framed, you could use something as simple as copier paper If you want to showoff your cut’s three dimensions then something sturdier is preferable Watercolourpaper is great because it is easy to cut but it is also strong enough to stand up in abox frame
7.Backing material: If you plan to frame your paper cut design, it is important to
consider what is going behind it The obvious choice is a sheet of contrasting
coloured paper, but you could also use fabric, newsprint or pages from an old book. You are only limited by your imagination (and what fits in the frame, of course
Trang 35Transferring Your Design
The first technique in paper cutting involves creating a mirror image of your design so youcan work from the back-side of your paper Cutting from behind gives your paper cut aclean, crisp look and helps to disguise any imperfections Also, if you draw and cut yourdesign on the front of the paper, it is almost impossible to rub out the lines without
damaging the delicate paper cut
1.Use pencil to draw your design and be sure to use bold, thick lines
2.Place your tracing paper face-down on the reverse side of your cutting paper Use
a little masking tape to hold it in place Firmly scribble over all the lines of yourdesign with a pencil
3.Remove the tracing paper and reveal your design You may wish to go over some
of the lines with your pencil to make them clearer You now have a mirror image ofyour design on the reverse of your cutting paper It will be the right way roundwhen viewed from the front
Trang 36Work on the mirror image you have created of your design For straight lines it is best touse your metal ruler
Cutting Curved Lines
1.For curved lines it is best to move the paper around, rather than your scalpel.2.Here you can see how to use the reversed design to guide your cutting Cut asclose as you can to either side of your pencil line, just leaving the width of thepencil mark - which in this case is roughly 2mm - behind
Trang 37
If you are learning how to paper craft, the basic techniques - cutting, scoring and folding, are probably the first you will need to acquire You can start paper craft using paper, card, pencil, ruler and scissors These tools enable you to measure, mark and cut your paper orcards As your paper crafting skill progresses, you may want to get a craft knife, cuttingmat, a metal ruler and a bone folder A bone folder is a good substitute with a round edgeknife for scoring and the back of a spoon to define a fold You can use either a plastic orglass cutting mat A plastic mat gets cuts on its surface unlike a glass mat and it can beused for other techniques like ink blending But a plastic mat provides more grips forcutting
Trang 38To cut, place your card and paper on the cutting mat and use the measuring guidelines onthe mat to cut the card size You can also measure with a ruler and use a pencil to lightlymark the cutting lines Then hold your ruler firmly on the card on the cutting mat and cutalong the edge of the ruler with a craft knife It is better to use a steel edge ruler for thisthan a plastic one
Trang 39Folding a piece of plain thin card can be done easily by matching the edges and corners ofthe card to fold and making the crease with your fingers But when using a thicker cardwith coating on it, it is better to score and then fold the card to prevent creasing and cracks
on the fold Place the card on a solid surface and use a pencil to lightly mark where youwant to fold or use the cutting mat guidelines Firmly hold your ruler a little to the side ofthe fold line so that when you score it will be on the fold line Use the bone folder to pressinto the card Then move the tool steadily and firmly along the ruler Use your finger tomake the crease after folding the card over Using a bone folder to rub along the creasecan give your fold a defined look
As you progress in paper crafting, you will discover that using scoring board is mucheasier when you want to score There are different types of scoring board but they all
perform the same act that allows you to place your card and use a bone folder or other tool
to score the line
If you come across the term mountain or valley fold while doing any paper craft project donot panic if you do not know what it means Mountain fold means that the paper sticks upwith the fold at the top and valley fold means the paper dips inwards with the fold at thebottom After mastering these steps you can go on to try out other techniques in papercrafts
