I will start by introducing myself, my name is Rob I am 31years old, and have been making a lot of money on Craig’s Listover the last year I am/was a Home Improvement contractor

by trade, until I found how easy it was to make really goodmoney on Craig’s List, sitting at home My contracting businessrelies on my employees and customers, if anyone of themmesses up, I can lose money But now using the free advertising

know of making money on Craig’s List, and how to do it I willgive you some very advanced techniques that I have used forover a year, as well as the basics (with my special twists onthem) I have spent the last year and four months on Craig’sList, at least 2 hours a day, and I have made incredible moneydoing there I wrote this report to share with you what I havelearned, and to help you do the same

Before I get started, I want to say that I will try to keep

one sitting, and start using the next day! The first thing you need to know about CL is that it is out

of control People post anything they want to, very oftenoffensive, and that’s just the way it is People will respond toads you post in many ways; they might love you, hate you, oreven threaten you Be aware of it, and protect yourself towhatever extent you can, and you will be fine

Don’t take the negative comments (there will be many) toheart Most people who respond negatively to your ads will just

be jealous of you, and you should ignore them You shouldcreate a new email account for all the posting you do on CL, and

be sure to not use your real name when you sign up for it (ifyou do, your name will show up next to your email addresswhen you respond to ads) I only say this because a lot ofpeople create a separate email account to do business with andtheir real name appears next to it when they use it (not private).They are never aware that it shows, and some weird people on

CL will call you! You don’t need that, so play smart

Actually, while we are on the topic of private emailaccounts, stop reading this for a minute and go to Google (oryour choice) and set up a free email account that you will useonly for posting to CL Once you have created your new email

account, you might as well set up your Craig’s List postingaccount at the same time Follow the directions here to set upyour CL posting account (it only takes a few minutes) then youcan come back to finish reading the report.

Directions for creating your Craig’s List posting account:

1 Go to www.craigslist.com

3 Choose the site nearest you.

4 At the top left of the page, click “My account”.

5 Under the grey text box, click “click here to sign up”.

6 Enter the required info and click “create account”.

7 Open the email sent to you by Craig’s list, and click the linkprovided.

The link will bring you to the CL account log-in page…

8 Enter a new password, and submit

9 Accept the “Terms of use” agreement by clicking “accept”.Congratulations! You now have a Craig’s list posting account!

Now that you have created an account, click the “Log-out”link at the top of the page, and go back to www.craigslist.com.

I recommend that you spend a day or two clicking everysingle category and section available on Craig’s List to familiarizeyourself with it You should do this for one main reason; youneed to know of everything available on Craig’s List Almosteveryone who uses CL only opens fewer than 3 sections there!

If you want to harness the real power of ALL of CL’s users, you

need to go where they are (every section on the homepage)

I will warn you that there are some sections on CL whereusers post very explicit photos and offers, you will know whenyou are getting close to seeing something that may botheryou:) Resist temptation and don’t look, I have seen things thatmade me uncomfortable for a few days:) Those sections aretypically found under “personals”, and most often in thesections of “misc romance”, and “casual encounters” This isn’t

to say that you shouldn’t use these sections at all I have foundthese sections to contain some of the most responsive users,depending on what type of ad you are posting Just be aware

Craig’s List?

How else can you make deals and money if you are in thedark? In order to make the most money possible on CL, you will

the service providers You should scroll down through the adsand see what topics come up often and what items and servicesare popular Once you know of everything happening on CL,you will be much quicker to realize an opportunity when itarises, or even better yet, to be able to create your ownopportunities! This one tip will put your CL income levelthousands of dollars ahead of 99% of CL users They never takethe time to fully learn about CL and use it to its fullest potential.Almost everyday I discover a new way or angle to make moneythere! The opportunities are really endless Now that you haveyour new email account and your new posting account at CL,let’s get you back on track…

Another thing you need to know about CL is how it works.Basically, CL is a place where you can post and respond to freeadvertisements of many sections; for sale, wanted, specificitems, in search of relationships, discussion forums, the list goes

on As people post ads in each section, the newest ads appear

on top of the older ones, like the credits at the end of a movie(in reverse) The longer your ad is posted, the more people willhave posted over your ad That means that viewers will have toscroll down further and further to see your ad as time goes by.The following page is a screen shot of what the ads look likeposted to CL Remember that the more recent ads postedappear on top of the older ads

The ad you see here for “stonework” was posted after the ad for

“1 weekend warrior painting”

You can (and should) post pictures or images in your ads(they get viewed much more than ads without pictures) Thefollowing is a screen shot showing which ads have picsattached… note the yellow “pic” indicator on the right of the adheadline…those ads will get opened almost every time just oncuriosity alone:) Then if you are offering something nice, you atleast have the reader’s attention!

When you click on an ads headline, this is what it will looklike when it opens:

The bold black print in the ad is the headline (what you saw

on the page that lists the ads) When you post an ad, youremail address is concealed from the reader (unless you specifythat it shouldn’t be), and when people view your ad, they can’ttell who posted it Notice the blue link to the right of “reply to:”

at the top left corner of the ad That is CL disguising your email

When a reader wants to respond to your ad, they click theblue link (unless you have included your contact info in the adbody, or specified that your email address should be exposed).When they click the blue link they are actually responding to CL,and then CL forwards the email to your email address Onceyou respond to the person who answered your ad (from youremail account), they will be able to see your email address.

Why again is it important to use a hidden or private emailaccount when posting to CL? A girl I met on CL told me that shehad an item posted for sale, and she received a nasty responsefrom some guy who was terribly angry at her for no apparentreason (not that unusual on CL:) He cursed her out in his email,and she responded accordingly (cursed him right back) She didthis using her work email account, and her email address had

that he looked up the company where she worked, and calledreception to be connected with her he was able to get her onthe phone and yell at her, which was more than she hadexpected, and really scared her! Bottom line; be smart, it’sbetter to ignore the “wackos” than to respond to them Withthat being said

Some times of day are better to post to CL than others.From being online the last year using CL, I have found that thereare busy times on CL and slow times too You want to post

when your ad will be featured at the top of a section, for thelongest amount of time You also want to post your ads rightbefore it gets busy, so many people will be on CL looking at

your ad The slow times are basically from 1AM to 7AM (people

are sleeping), 12PM to 2PM (people are eating lunch), and from5-7PM (people are driving home, and eating dinner) Friday

nights, and Saturday nights are slow times too (people are

going out, or with friends and family) Busy times are from

8AM-12PM (people are sitting at work online, or have sent kidsoff to school), 2PM-5PM (people are at their desks, or kids aren’thome yet), and from 7PM-1AM (people are online at home) Ifyou post your ads to correspond with people’s CL browsing

activity, you will usually get better responses to your ads Thefollowing is a chart for easy reference showing the best daysand times to post to get the most responses, and keep your adcloser to the top for the longest To print this chart, click here

Now that you know a little about how CL works, and whattimes you will see better responses from your ads, let me show

you how to post your ads there…

Posting ads to Craig’s List

1 Go to www.Craigslist.com

2 Click the “my account” link at the top left

3 Enter your email address and password, then hit “log-in”.

4 At the top right of the screen choose the city you want topost in, and click “go”.

5 Click the link for the section you want to post in.

6 Select the category you want to post in.

7 Select the area you want to post in.

Selecting the area you want to post in will bring you to theactual post creation page: This is the page where you createyour ad!

The “posting title” and “specific location” fields are whereyou will place your headline and secondary headline(respectively) You will enter the body of your ad in the mainwindow “posting description” Under the field where you putyour email address, they give you the option to use your emailaddress for replies, or conceal it from the readers view.ALWAYS choose to use the blue links provided by CL (to protectyour privacy)

8 After you have entered all the required fields, and click

“continue” at the bottom left of the screen What you will seethen is a preview of your ad!

9 If everything looks good, type the verification code and click

“continue If you want to make changes, click “edit”, make yourchanges, and then continue

Your ad is now posted and saved to your account!

Your ad will remain on the site for a varying numbers ofdays, depending on which section you posted to, and also howmany other posters are putting ads up after yours You will seehow long the ad will be posted for when you create it (CL tellsyou on the ad creation page) Your account page will give you alot of helpful information, such as the status of your ad Youcan see if it is pending, has expired, or even worse, “flagged”.Being “flagged” means that someone removed your ad fromthe site This is only supposed to be done when your ad isinappropriate, dangerous, violates the terms of use, or is in thewrong section You can be flagged by another person posting asimilar ad, but this is rare believe it or not!

What if there are very few ads posted to CL in your area?

Many people feel that if they live in an area where thereare few ads posted to CL, that they are at a disadvantage formaking money there…this is NOT true! These areas offer evengreater benefits, because they are areas that have the greatestgrowth potential for advertising there, as well as the benefit ofhaving less competition using the free space to advertise!Craig’s List has the users, so if the businesses are not advertising

on CL, you can do it for them and make a lot of money for it!The fewer people posting ads, the better! All the Craig’s Listusers in that area will be yours

Using your account data to PROFIT on CL!

If you really want to make a lot of money on CL, you have

to manage your activity and monitor what is working and what

is not For starters, let’s look at the data available at the

“account page” for CL pictured below

The use of the information here is what separates theoccasional users from the true business minded individualslooking for six figure income on CL! I realize that the followinginformation may be a little difficult to follow at first, but don’tlet that discourage you from trying it Once you analyze a few

The information available about each ad is as follows: theID# of the ad, the date it was created, the site it was posted to,the category it was posted to, the title of the ad, and if youpaid a fee for posting it (some ads on CL require payment of afee, but very few, and typically only ads for hiring full timeemployees or selling real estate in certain cities.) Let me explainwhy each of these bits of information can be important to yourprofits.

The ID# of the ad is important because when peoplerespond to your ads, the ID# of that ad is included in theirresponse email To track which ads get the most responses,simply use the “ad tracking” form provided in the workbook Bytracking which ads you get the most responses on, you willknow which ads to keep using, and which ones to get rid of.You will also learn everything you need to know about writingbetter ads in general! can create ads that are very similar though! Using the “ad

tracking form” you can separate the individual elements of the

field, and the actual ad body You will want to know which ofthose elements is making the ad generate the most responses,

so that you can use that element more often for your otherads

To figure this out, you would use the ad testing form,available at the end of this section You would start by testingthe headline Take the headline and use it again in a new ad.Then enter different information in the “area” field, and thebody of that same ad The only thing that is the same betweenthe new ad and the old one is the headline Post that ad to CL,

and wait… Now, create another ad with a different “headline”,

but use the same area and ad body text Post that ad to CL, andwait… Create yet another ad using a different headline, anddifferent “area” field, but keep the text body the same Postthat ad to CL as well, and wait… Track the number of responsesyou get to each ad Based on the number of responses you get

to the variations of the original ad ads, you will know whatelement of the original ad made it so popular, and you can usethat over and over on your other ads

When you run those ads, you will see the new ad IDs in theresponse emails from the CL visitors The new ad ID that has thegreatest number of responses should be compared to theoriginal ad that generated excellent responses What do theyhave in common? If it is the same headline, then you know it isthe headline that people responded well to If it is the info youput in the “area” field”, then you know that was the reason yougot the great response Whatever it was, now you know, andyou can use that information when creating new ads to pulleven more responses from people! Whatever the winning

element of the ad was, use it! So, track your ads information onthe ad tracker form, and you will be able to turn your postingsinto money online!

The date the ad was posted is important because you canalso track responses by the date Tracking the responses yougenerate from your ads, you may notice that a certain day ofthe month you get more responses for your ads or items forsale (hint: the day most people get paid from their jobs:) Checkthis out…:) Let’s say that you post an ad for a moving company

You don’t get any responses for almost 2 weeks and then WOW,

you start getting 10 responses a day! What sense can we make

of this, and why would the date be important? Well, I could tellyou that the day your moving ad started getting a lot of hitswas probably the last few days of the month, or the first couple

of days of the month Why? Because that is when people signnew leases, or start renting new apartments usually, at the end

or beginning of the month!

So if you create a really good ad and don’t get a goodresponse from it, run it for a while and see what happens… Itmay just be that your timing was off! By paying attention tothe dates you post your ads, and the responses you generate,you will learn quickly when to post various types of ads to getthe greatest responses from them on CL:) You will learn to postyour ads for your “moving service providers” the last few days

of the month, and the first few days of the month to generatehuge responses This also applies to seasonal work, like poolclosings, gutter cleaning, exterior painting…use your head and

The “site” that you post your ad to (New York or Miami’ssite for example) can also make a huge difference in yourresponse rate Again, tracking the sites you posted to, the type

of ad you posted, and the number of responses you get will becrucial in determining what you should do You may be postingads to a certain section of Miami advertising an item or servicethey don’t use there If you track the response you get, andnotice that the same item/service sells very well in NY, then youknow to not waste your time posting it to Miami Find other

“sites” with similar characteristics as NY and start posting thereinstead!

The “category” that you post in will also give you varyingresponses, even on the same site! Let’s say that you are sellingbaby items in the “general for sale” category of CL You knowthat baby items are hot sellers, so you can’t understand whyyour items are not moving? If you try posting the same items

in various areas, you will find that when you posted to the “forsale baby items” category, your response rates went way up!Again, you will only be able to know this if you track your ads!!!

If you don’t track your ads, then you are wasting a lot ofvaluable time posting worthless ads Learn to track andunderstand your ads, and you will get money!

The last bit of info about your ads that you want to know isthe “title” This is your “headline”, and a way for you to easilyidentify what your ad was about at a later date (the ID# doesn’tsay much, but the title will help you remember the ad:)

Color coded ads??? What do they mean?

You will notice that when you log into your account, thelines of your ads information are colored The account page is along list of all the ads you posted, and the colors highlightingeach tell something about the ads Why is this important?Because it helps you stay on top of your postings! You willnotice that the ads you posted more recently are highlightedgreen These are your active ads Other ads might behighlighted blue, those are the ads that you chose to removeoff CL for whatever reason (they weren’t working for you, or itwas an item you sold) Mark those as blue so you don’t re-post

an item you no longer have:)

The purple highlighted ads are my favorite, because thoseare expired and can be posted again! The more new ads youcreate in your account, the more ads will be expiring daily Thatmeans that every day you will have some of your older ads torepost, and you WON’T have to re-write them! Just click re-post,and enter the verification codes The same ads will go back towork for you advertising your services, or the services of yournetwork of providers

Pink ads are ads that other visitors have flagged down forsome reason Like I said previously, it most likely was that your

ad was posted in the “wrong section”, or it was horriblyoffensive in some way…The ads that are grey highlighted arepending, but if you post in your account every time, you shouldnever have any pending ads

Creating a Network for profit!

Networking means establishing contacts with people thatlead to mutually beneficial relationships Networking can takeplace between anyone, as long as those people are providing abenefit to each other This is the most profitable method Ihave for making money on Craig’s List, because it costs nothing,and can take place all day and night Depending on thebusiness agreement you create with your network, you canmake a few thousand dollars a week networking if you workdiligently and intelligently I have provided you with a printablecopy of the “Service provider information” sheet I use to keeptrack of my network; you can get yours here Service Provider

Examples of “my type” of networking would be a bakerwho gives free cookies to the guy who supplies him with thesugar (at a discount) It could be a relationship between aninterior decorator that refers customers to a contractor, inexchange for a fee or percentage on those jobs All you need

to make money networking on Craig’s List is a few hours a day

An example of networking deals I have set up on CL are asfollows: I read all the ads I saw posted for licensed plumbers on

CL, and then I contacted 10 of them I interviewed them overthe phone and via email, and decided which ones I could trust

to do a good job for the people I refer to them, and who washonorable enough to pay me for the referral I also checked tomake sure they were in fact licensed contractors

I then started posting my own ads to the “Servicesprovided” section, in the “skilled trades” category advertisingthe services of licensed plumbers Any responses my adsgenerated, I would call a plumber from my network and givehim the contact info and details of the job When and if he gotthe job, he would perform the services and then pay me thefee or percentage we agreed on previously

I would call the customer to make sure they were happy,and to establish a relationship with them If they need services

in the future, they would call me again (and do) The plumberunderstands and is comfortable with the fact that I amproviding a service to him (a job and a chance for him to makemoney), and he doesn’t mind paying me a fee for it We bothbenefit from the arrangement

Another networking arrangement I have established that is

very lucrative is with house keeping services Housekeeping isone of those services that people have trouble finding a goodreliable one There are so many terrible housekeepers outthere, when people find a good one, they hang onto them! Iinterviewed and checked out (even used) various housekeepingservices in my area, and found two or three I couldrecommend I then post my ads to CL advertising qualityhousekeeping services, and wait for the calls or emails to come

in The process is the same as with the plumbers in mynetwork, except with the housekeepers, I ask $10 per hour fromthem

Most housekeeping companies charge $25-30 per hour fortheir services, but only pay their employees $10 per hour atmost If I ask $10 per hour of them, the company isn’t losinganything, they are keeping their employees busy, and they stillmake $10-12 dollars per hour on their employee If I have ahousekeeping company working at jobs I referred them to foronly 4 hours a day (with 2 employees working), I am making $80that day from that networking connection while sitting athome

There are many things that make this form of networking

so powerful and so profitable; you can set up the entirenetwork of customers and service/product providers from yourcomputer at home, you can operate any hours you want, youcan start and run this network for free using CL advertising, you

can do it in any location in the country, and many other

benefits I haven’t included here

had 2 housekeeping companies giving you $80 each for the day,

a plumber giving you 10% of a $1,000.00 job, and three

“handymen” giving you $50 a piece for small day jobs you gotthem…you could project making $410.00 for the day, withoutleaving your house! If you did this every day, you could projectmaking over $12,000 a month! That’s almost $150,000 a year in(estimated) income, posting to CL from your home computer

Keep in mind also that this is only ONE technique I use tomake money on CL, there are others you can use when you justdon’t have that many networking gig’s to go around Tomaximize the amount of money you can to make from yournetwork, you should try to deal with services that offer a higherprofit margin, such as electricians, plumbers, and websitedesigners By focusing on trades or service providers thatprovide costlier services, the amount of money you cangenerate increases with each “deal” you do!

An average job for a handyman may be just $300, and ifyou got 10% of that you would make $30.00 Not bad, but youcan do better! A typical deal with a plumber may be $1,000, and

if you got 10% of that deal, you would make $100! That’s more

than three times more money, for the same amount of effort

on your part That’s what they call working “smarter, notharder”

This networking business model can be set up in as manycities or states you want If your local economy is not doing sowell, find an area of the country that is doing well, and meetthe locals via CL! You just have to establish contacts withreputable service providers in the areas you wish to operate in
