objectives, goal and core values also the legal form of ICT, especially about the

International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation – Asphalt (ICT – ASP) Otherwise, I will choose stakeholders and explain why they are the most important

Moreover, I will explain the structure of International Investment Construction and TradingCorporation and analyze the inter-relationship of functions of the company

I The different types, scope and size of ICT

According to “The Business Environment” (Ian W & Chris B., 2006), business

organizations can be classified in many different ways, such as sector, type of industry, size and legal status

1 Legal form of the company

There are three basic types of legal form: partnership, sole trader and company or corporation Moreover, the company is also considered as a private limited company or public limited company

Base on “The Business Environment” Book, a company and corporation was set up

by two or more than two individual people who have agreed to take part in founding acompany Otherwise, they decide a corporate status instead of form a partnership

With three stake-holders all come from the company, International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation is one kind of corporation Its legal form also

expressed through the name of the company Otherwise, according to the information

provided by the company, the type of industry of ICT is a private joint stock company

2 The size of the company

According to “The Business Environment” Book, when evaluating the size of a firm,

the most important step is defining what is the term used in official data For example, the company, the corporation or enterprise, which is an organization as a whole, otherwise, it might include some several establishments and units The most common evaluation of size is

by the number of employees

International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation were established on 1st of March in 1999 After being set up in nearly 20 years, ICT has four companies operating in four different sectors: asphalt, hydropower, civil production and clean food and securities trading -

real estate The number of employees in the group is over 320 people, specifically,

150 employees for the ICT-ASP company With this number of people, the size of

ICT can be evaluated as a medium size company

3 The mission, vision, objectives, goal and core values of ICT

a) Mission of ICT Being mentioned in “Sloan Management Review” Book (John A Pearce II, 1982),

the mission of a company is widely defined but it is an enduring statement with the purpose

of distinguishes the company from other firms, otherwise, the mission is also identified the company’s range of operation in market term and products

In the presentation at IBD@NEU, the guest speaker shared that as the second largest supplier of asphalt in the country, ICT's mission is to develop sustainably for the community and society, to strictly abide by state law, to contribute high-quality asphalt products to develop infrastructure and transportation in Vietnam

b) Vision of ICT

According to “Principles of Management” Book (Henri Fayol, 1916), a vision is

an oriented statement in the future for the company’s purpose and ambitions By many different ways, the company can say that “a vision declaration can transmission what we want to accomplish”

As the second largest bitumen supplier nationwide, the vision of International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation is the number one provider of asphalt and asphalt products in Vietnam (ICT’s presentation in IBD@NEU) This success will create the foundation for the company

to reach out to the world, such as supplying asphalt to Laos and Cambodia.

The ICT policy is to work for the benefit of the community and for the safety

of the people on the roads produced by high-quality asphalt At the same time,

International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation always execute the ethical and legal standards in business

II The importance of stakeholders of ICT

According to “Principles of Management”, stakeholders could be an individual or a group who have an interest in the company Stakeholders can make strategies of the company become either easier or more difficult and they are also executives of mission and vision There are three main reasons to demonstrate that stakeholders are important:

The stakeholder is the manager as well as the decision maker who influences the mission and vision of the company

Stakeholders take responsibility for developing strategies to achieve mission and vision

Stakeholders are also those who implement the strategy

For International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation, the most

important stakeholders are shareholders, employees, customers and sale staffs

1 Shareholders of the company

International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation have twoshareholders who are the CEO of two hydropower plants: ICT Chiem Hoa Hydropowerplant and ICT Vinh Ha Hydropower plant

As it is mentioned in “Strategic Management Journal” (Amy J Hillman and Gerald

D.Keim,2001), building a better relationship with customers, employees and suppliers cancontribute to helping shareholders become richer and thereby helps the company become more developed

For shareholders, ICT has a policy of development and profit growth of the company

so that the income of shareholders is increased

2 Employees of the company

International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation have 320 employees for the

whole company Henry Fayol said in the “Principles of Management” that each individual brings

something differences to work They have different values, personalities and different attitudes and behaviors The combination of many individuals together with different strengths will contribute too many ideas and strategies to help the company grow stronger At the same time, the company's employees are key players in fulfilling the mission and vision of the company They are the ones implementing the strategies and projects as well as the objectives.

For employees, the company has its own policy to meet their interests, wants and expectations In the presentation at IBD@NEU, the guest speaker said that they are confident that they pay a higher salary than any other company But money is not the most important issue For employees, the company gives them a career rather than just a job They are ready

to meet all the development needs of employees For example, if the company's driver wants

to learn to become a manager of the asphalt import-export process, the company is ready to train that person to become a professional manager ICT always gives employees the

3 Customers of the company

According to “Agile Software Development” Book (J Highsmith and A Cockburn , 2001), compliance with plans is no longer the primary objective Instead, customer

satisfaction is a priority Through that standard, it can be seen that customers are very

important and influential to the company Customers directly help the company achieve term goals because they are the ones who help increase the company's revenue

4 Sales staffs of the company

In the presentation at IBD@NEU, the guest speaker shared that “Sales Department plays an important role in our company” Sales staffs directly participate in the management of import and export of products For example, in the delivery process to customers, the Sales Department will closely monitor step by step to ensure the amount of goods will still be enough when delivered to customers Otherwise, during the buying and selling process, if the customer does not pay sufficiently when the appointment is made, the sales staff will immediately stop the delivery process Until the full payment is received, the delivery process will be continued.

For the Sales Department, there is also own policy that the company created to meet their interests, wants and expectations As a Sales staffs, what they expect the most is about income That is the reason why International Investment Construction and Trading Corporation have an

attractive system of wage and bonus for sales staffs Specifically, the sales employee's income consists of four factors:

Hard recruiting is also practised every month

Productivity wage is measured by the number of goods sold Soft waves are calculated by profit

In addition, ICT creates a professional working environment with a solid cultural foundation based on Herzberg's two-factor theory of employee motivation From then on the sales staffs have a strong attachment to the company and develop with ICT

I The structure of ICT

According to “The Business Environment” Book, there are five main types of structure:

The functional organizational structure has a group team of activities which share the same function and purpose

The divisional organizational structure divides the organization into many closed businesses units Each unit operates as a distinct Profit Centre

The product-based organizational structure has many working groups; each group takes responsibilities for a particular service or product Each individual group of an organization may have different functional aspects of it because of its own expert

The matrix organizational structure combines with functional sections which are built around projects, products and programs The next step is arranging them into a matrix order A matrix is divided into two different branches: responsibility and influence/power

The project team is the last type of 5 main structures It is different from all the structure which is mentioned on the above because it is just only temporarily Each task will have a project team set up to do the job Project teams are not specific to a department or job After the task is completed, the project team will be decided to disband; the team members will return to their job or receive a new assignment

Trading Corporation is the mixed structure (functional organizational structure and divisional

organizational structure) The company has 8 sectors that can be divided into 3 fields: business section,

support section and speciality section The functional organizational can be applied to the business

section; the divisional structure can be applied to the support section.
