I Cách dùng thì hiện tại tiếp diễn Tiếng Anh

Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn (The present continuous) là một thì rất quan trọng trong tiếng Anh và được dùng thường xuyên để diễn tả các trường hợp sau:

Sự việc đang xảy ra ở thời điểm chúng ta nói:

 It's raining (Trời đang mưa)

 Who is Kate talking to on the phone? (Kate đang nói chuyện với ai qua điện thoại vậy?)

 Look, somebody is trying to steal that man's wallet (Nhìn kìa, có người đang cố gắng trộm cái ví của người đàn ông đó.)

 I'm not looking My eyes are closed tightly (Tôi không có nhìn đâu Mắt của tôi đang nhắm chặt nè.)

Sự việc đúng ở thời điểm hiện tại nhưng sẽ không còn đúng về lâu dài:

 I'm looking for a new apartment (Tôi đang tìm một căn hộ mới.)

 He's thinking about leaving his job (Anh ấy đang nghĩ đến việc rời bỏ công việc của mình.)

 They're considering making an appeal against the judgment (Họ đang cân nhắc việc kêu gọi chống lại bản án.)

 Are you getting enough sleep? (Anh ngủ có đủ giấc không?)

Sự việc diễn ra ở một thời điểm xác định trong tương lai và được lên lịch và sắp xếp sẵn:

 I'm meeting her at 6.30 (Tôi sẽ gặp cô ấy lúc 6:30.)

 They aren't arriving until Tuesday (Họ sẽ không đến cho đến thứ Ba.)

 We are having a special dinner at a top restaurant for all the senior managers (Họ sẽ có một buổi ăn tối đặc biệt cho tất cả các quản lý cấp cao ở một nhà hàng hàng đầu.)

 Isn't he coming to the dinner? (Anh ta sẽ không đến ăn tối phải không?)

II Cấu trúc thì hiện tại tiếp diễn Tiếng Anh

Câu khẳng định Câu phủ định Câu nghi vấn

- S + be (am/ is/ are) +

V-ing + (O)

Ví dụ:

He's thinking about leaving his

job

They're considering making an

appeal

against the judgment

- S + be-not + V-ing + (O)

Ví dụ:

I'm not looking My eyes are closed tightly

They aren't arriving until Tuesday

- (Từ để hỏi) + Be + S + V-ing + (O)?

Ví dụ:

V: Hoàn tất các cuộc hội thoại

1 A: I saw Brian a few day ago.

B: No bad.It's wasn't so good at first, but (things/ get) better now

VI: Cho dạng đúng của động từ trong ngoặc.

1 Look! The car (go) so fast

VII: Xây dựng câu sử dụng thì hiện tại tiếp diễm dựa vào các từ gợi ý cho sẵn.

VI: Cho dạng đúng của động từ trong ngoặc.

1 Look! The car (go) so fast (Nhìn kìa! Chiếc xe đang đi nhanh quá.)

- is going (Giải thích: Ta thấy “Look!” là một dấu hiệu của thì hiện tại tiếp diễn báo hiệu một điều

gì đang xảy ra Chủ ngữ là “the car” là ngôi thứ 3 số ít (tương ứng với “it”) nên ta sử dụng “is + going”)

2 Listen! Someone (cry) in the next room (Hãy nghe này! Ai đó đang khóc trong phòng bên)

- is crying (Giải thích: Ta thấy “Listen!” là một dấu hiệu của thì hiện tại tiếp diễn báo hiệu một

điều gì đang xảy ra Chủ ngữ là “someone” (một ai đó), động từ theo sau chia theo chủ ngữ số ít nên ta sử dụng “is + crying”)

3 Your brother (sit) next to the beautiful girl over there at present? (Bây giờ anh trai của bạn đang ngồi cạnh cô gái xinh đẹp ở đằng kia phải không?

- Is your brother sitting (Giải thích: Ta thấy “at present” là dấu hiệu của thì hiện tại tiếp diễn.

Đây là một câu hỏi, với chủ ngữ là “your brother” (ngôi thứ 3 số ít tương ứng với “he”) nên ta sử dụng “to be” là “is” đứng trước chủ ngữ Động từ “sit” nhân đôi phụ âm “t” rồi cộng “-ing”.)

4 Now they (try) to pass the examination (Bây giờ họ đang cố gắng để vượt qua kỳ thi.)

- are trying (Giải thích: Ta thấy “now” là dấu hiệu của thì hiện tại tiếp diễn Với chủ ngữ là

“they” ta sử dụng “to be” là “are + trying”.)

5 It’s 12 o’clock, and my parents (cook) lunch in the kitchen (Bây giờ là 12 giờ và bố mẹ của tôi đang nấu bữa trưa ở trong bếp.)

- are cooking (Giải thích: Ta thấy “it’s 12 o’clock” là một thời gian cụ thể xác định ở hiện tại nên

ta sử dụng thì hiện tại tiếp diễn “Chủ ngữ “my parents” là số nhiều nên ta sử dụng “to be” là

“are + cooking”.)

6 Keep silent! You (talk) so loudly (Giữ yên lặng! Các em đang nói quá to đấy.)

- are talking (Giải thích: Ta thấy “Keep silent!” là một dấu hiệu của thì hiện tại tiếp diễn báo

hiệu một điều gì đang xảy ra Chủ ngữ là “you” nên ta sử dụng “are + crying”)

7 I (not stay) at home at the moment (Lúc này tôi đang không ở nhà.)

- am not staying (Giải thích: Ta thấy đây là câu phủ định Với chủ ngữ là “I” nên ta sử dụng “to

be” là “am + not + staying.)

8 Now she (lie) to her mother about her bad marks.(Bây giờ cô ấy đang nói dối mẹ cô ấy về những điểm kém của mình.)

- is lying (Giải thích: Ta thấy “now” là dấu hiệu nhận biết thì hiện tại tiếp diễn Với chủ ngữ là

“she” nên ta sử dụng “to be” là “is + lying”).

9 At present they (travel) to New York (Hiện tại họ đang đi du lịch tới New York.)

- are travelling (Giải thích: Ta thấy “at present” là dấu hiệu nhận biết thì hiện tại tiếp diễn Với

chủ ngữ là “they” nên ta sử dụng “to be” là “are + travelling)

10 He (not work) in his office now (Bây giờ anh ấy ấy đang không làm việc trong văn phòng.)

- isn’t working (Giải thích: Ta thấy “now” là dấu hiệu nhận biết thì hiện tại tiếp diễn Đây là câu

phủ định với chủ ngữ là “he” nên ta sử dụng “to be” là “is + working”.)

VII: Xây dựng câu sử dụng thì hiện tại tiếp diễm dựa vào các từ gợi ý cho sẵn.

1 My/ father/ water/ some plants/ the/ garden

- My father is watering some plants in the garden (Bố của tôi đang tưới cây ở trong vườn.)

2 My/ mother/ clean/ floor/.

- My mother is cleaning the floor (Mẹ của tôi đang lau nhà.)

3 Mary/ have/ lunch/ her/ friends/ a/ restaurant

- Mary is having lunch with her friends in a restaurant (Mary đang ăn trưa với bạn trong một

quán ăn.)

4 They/ ask/ a/ man/ about/ the/ way/ the/ rainway/ station

- They are asking a man about the way to the rainway station (Họ đang hỏi một người đàn

ông về đường đi tới nhà ga.)

5 My/ student/ draw/ a/ beautiful/ picture

- My student is drawing a beautiful picture (Học trò của tôi đang vẽ một bức tranh rất đẹp.)

VIII Hoàn thành các câu sau sử dụng động từ trong ngoặc chia ở thì hiện tại tiếp diễn
